TERMS OF SERVICE
The rules of the house.
By using The Ashton Standard, you agree to these terms. We've kept them as clear as we could.
Last updated: June 16, 2026
Welcome
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of The Ashton Standard platform, operated by The Ashton Standard, LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Who can use the platform
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account. By using the platform, you confirm that you are.
If you're signing up on behalf of a business (such as a restaurant), you confirm that you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms.
Your account
You're responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure
- All activity that happens under your account
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access (write to hello@ashtonstandard.com)
You agree to provide accurate information when you sign up and to keep it current. You may not impersonate another person or create accounts for fraudulent purposes.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, in our reasonable judgment.
Your content
You retain ownership of any content you upload to the platform — your SOPs, training materials, profile information, and any other materials you create or contribute ("Your Content").
By uploading Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, display, and process Your Content as needed to provide the service to you and to the users you've authorized (such as your team members or, if you've made your profile public, the public).
You promise that:
- You own Your Content or have the right to upload it
- Your Content doesn't infringe anyone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
- Your Content isn't unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
- You're not uploading malicious code, spam, or anything that could harm the platform or other users
We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
AI-generated content
When you use The Ashton Standard's AI SOP generator, you're working with a Claude language model that produces text based on your prompts. The AI's output is yours to use, edit, and publish under the same terms as any other content you create on the platform.
By using the AI SOP generator, you grant The Ashton Standard a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to retain a copy of AI-generated SOPs for the purpose of curating a shared library of hospitality service standards. We may anonymize, edit, categorize, and publish selected AI-generated SOPs as templates for other restaurants on the platform.
Source restaurant attribution is OFF by default. We do not display your restaurant name on shared templates unless you explicitly opt in.
The underlying AI model does not learn from your specific prompts in a persistent way (no fine-tuning). Your conversational input is processed by Anthropic's API under their privacy terms.
If you do not wish for your AI-generated SOPs to be included in the shared library, contact us at hello@ashtonstandard.com. We will mark your account as opt-out and remove any captured items already in the library.
Acceptable use
Don't use the platform to:
- Violate any law or regulation
- Infringe on anyone else's rights
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the platform
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system without authorization
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account or system
- Interfere with the operation of the platform
Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account, and may be reported to law enforcement.
Worker profiles and credentials
If you're a worker on the platform:
- Information you add to your profile is your responsibility to keep accurate
- Credentials issued by restaurants on the platform are attributed to those restaurants and verifiable through the platform
- Credentials you upload from external sources are your own claims; we may show them as "self-reported" until verified
If you're a restaurant on the platform:
- You're responsible for the accuracy of any credentials you award to workers
- You're responsible for managing your team's access appropriately
- You may not award credentials fraudulently or for purposes other than recognizing genuine training completion
Payment and subscriptions
The Ashton Standard is currently in early access. While in early access, restaurants receive full access at no cost. Workers receive lifetime free access for their core credential profile.
When paid plans launch, we will give existing restaurants at least 60 days notice and the option to lock in early-access pricing. Workers will continue to have free access to core profile features.
When payment terms are introduced, they will be set out separately and you will be asked to agree to them before any charges apply.
Privacy
Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Read it at /privacy.
Service availability
We work hard to keep the platform available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or experience outages from time to time. We are not liable for any losses arising from such interruptions.
Termination
You may stop using the platform at any time. To delete your account and data, write to hello@ashtonstandard.com.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay fees when they apply, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. We will provide notice where feasible.
Upon termination, your right to use the platform ends immediately. We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (see our Privacy Policy).
Intellectual property
The platform itself — its design, code, brand, content created by us, and underlying technology — is owned by The Ashton Standard, LLC and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the platform in accordance with these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works of the platform without our written permission.

Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Ashton Standard, LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the platform will not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Ashton Standard, LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Charleston County, South Carolina, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in effect.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
