The Ashton Standard is software that helps restaurants, golf clubs and hotels write their service standards, train the team on them, and certify who has proven they can hold them. It replaces the binder, the shared drive, and the veteran who “just knows” with one system the whole team opens on a phone.
In most good operations, the standard lives in three or four people. They know how the table is set, how the steak is checked at the pass, how a regular is greeted. Then one of them leaves in July.
The new hires learn from whoever is on shift. Within a season the service is still good — but it isn’t the same, and nobody decided to change it. Binders don’t fix this; nobody opens them. Pre-shift speeches don’t either; they’re gone by Friday.
The Ashton Standard fixes it by putting the standard where the team actually looks — on their phone — and checking that it was learned.
